Ten Non-fiction Books to Add to Your Reading List

In which season do you read the most? When do you find time to read? What else do you deprioritize to get it done? What is your filter for choosing a great book?

If you have interacted with The Savvy Sauce for long, you know I love books! We have podcasts about books, articles about books, and articles about books that love books!

I keep a note on my phone to track all the books I am reading and then I mark it with an * if it is worth re-reading. I only choose a handful of re-reads each year, so this list has accumulated over the past decade. Today I am sharing my favorite genre, non-fiction, and I will share the category in parentheses next to each recommendation. I will also only include books I have not written about previously in articles, such as Favorite Easter Activity with Kids, Gifts for Children’s Easter Baskets, My Favorite Gift Ideas for Kids 0-8, Need Summer Reading Ideas?, Summer Reading Recommendations, Part Two, My Ten Favorite Parenting Books, Ten Book Ideas for the Whole Family, Books I am Willing to Pay My Kids to Read and Five of My Favorite Books on Sexual Intimacy in Marriage. Here are ten of my favorites from recent years:

10. 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think by Laura Vanderkam (Time Management)

9. The Maker’s Diet by Jordan Rubin (Health and Healing)

8. The Inspired Homeschool by Jennifer Pepito (Homeschool)

7. Establishing Home by Jean Stoffer (Memoir / Interior Design)

6. X: Multiply Your God-given Potential by John Bevere (Spiritual Growth)

5. You Were Made for a God-Sized Dream by Holley Gerth (Personal Development)

4. The Whole and Healthy Family by Jodi Mockabee (Family and Parenting)

3. Eat Dirt by Dr. Josh Axe (Health and Wellness)

2. Mother Culture by Karen Andreola (Parenting)

1. The Art of Asking Better Questions by J.R. Briggs (Leadership, Conversation, Relationships, Spiritual Formation, and more . . . this is my favorite book in recent history! And guess who an upcoming podcast guest will be this fall?!)

If you want to hear a handful of these guests, don’t miss these episodes:
