“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15, CSB)

This verse is top of mind this time of year as the holidays are approaching and we celebrate Jesus willingly bringing Heaven to us in the form of a baby.

Before the wild season of holidays arrives, I encourage you to ask your spouse these questions and reflect on the answers yourself. What have been some family highlights this year? Are there any favorite memories from each of you? Is there anything you want to replicate in the upcoming new year?

You may remember from One Practical Parenting Nudge, how our pastor friend said family camp was the single best decision he had ever made as the spiritual leader in their home.

Family camp ranks as a collective Dugger family favorite memory as we reflect back on our year. I’m so grateful WinShape Camps did an incredible job of setting the stage for us to enjoy adventures with our family, such as banana boating, ziplining, and fishing.

Even better, their staff prioritized making sure we all left spiritually nourished. There were points in the week when kids and adults would worship all together, but other times we went to separate locations where the young, relevant, and energetic counselors discipled our children, while the adults sharpened one another.

Mark and I created a document for wise living that we shared with the parents in that session, and now I want to share some of it with you!

It’s nine pages long, so I’ll just share the first page today. Then in future articles, you can come back to be encouraged by new scripture and additional questions on the remaining pages.

It’s a fun document to take on date night, talk through with your spouse after the kids are in bed, or even bring up with the whole family over dinner! Regardless of the way it fits into your schedule, here are some guiding Scriptures with questions for practical application.

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15, CSB) Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection for our salvation is indescribable, and yet He offers other daily gifts as well. I pray this document is a gift for you, as well as the fruit you will experience from applying the wise principles you’ve learned through discussion.

As always, I pray it helps you to enjoy your own practical chats for intentional living, Amen!

Love,

Laura
